The acoustic shingle is a large formatted (up to 300 x 1400 mm) double-skinned (70 mm) acoustic facing, supplied filled with rock wool, based on Maestral® cladding, with which it shares its fitting principles and aesthetic qualities.
It is available in ten colours. Perforation diameter: 14 mm.
The roundness and softness of its shapes: elongated, rounded horizontal lines and emphasized verticals with a slightly protruding profile.
The flexibility of its fixing system, reducing contact with the user: clips fitted with polyethylene foam spacers.
Its solidity : it is particularly suited to public areas and high traffic zones.
Its acoustic performance, particularly in the area of education.
Its thermal inertia and comfort in summer provided by a process similar to a terracotta wall.

The acoustic shingle is supported at its two lower corners and held at its two upper corners by stainless steel clips (standard left and right clips, refs. BACA01 and BACA02 - see diagram 3), fitted as work progresses along special vertical aluminum profiles, installed directly (ref. BACP01) or as a cladding (ref. BACP03). These profiles run along the vertical joints between products and include, in particular, an aluminum finger, which is visible in the centre of the vertical joint.
There are various accessories not supplied by TERREAL (in italics in the diagrams): metal or PVC profiles for flashings and various finishes; various screws, fi xing anchors, thermal insulation, mastic, fixing brackets and wood and metal uprights.
The principles for fitting acoustic shingles must comply with the provisions of CSTB Technical Approval no. 2/05-1145. These principles are similar to those for the Maestral® cladding system.
Fitting the vertical framework of aluminum profiles must comply with the rules contained in CSTB specifications nos. 3316/3422/3585 (wood framework) - and nos. 3194/3586 (metal framework).
For direct fitting to the wall, the side wings of profiles BACP01 and BACP02 must be anchored against the substrate, with spacers under the profile to correct irregularities in the substrate.
For fitting as cladding, BACP03 profiles must be fixed using standard brackets, arranged in a staggered pattern on either side of the profile, arranged as appropriate to the situation. Fitting to wooden battens, more specialized, is also possible.
Positioned horizontally from the bottom upwards with 210 or 310 mm spacing, the products must first be fitted with BACA01 and BACA02 left and right clips (or MEA03 and MEA04 at the top) slid on at the ends into the upper cells, and then fitted onto the supports equipped with bottom clips (bottom clips BACA05 at the start of the cladding). Once folded back against the support profile, the product is finally fixed with two self-tapping screws into each clip, pushed up against the profile finger.
At critical points the acoustic shingle may be cut vertically (minimum width of 12 cm), using a diamond tipped saw, preferably lubricated with water. It is recommended that a trim is used to conceal the cut.
