Zéphir® is only 15 mm thick, small-size, single-skin terracotta cladding (up to 295 x 595 mm) with open horizontal joints.
With contemporary or more traditional tints, Zephir® is available in 10 colours with a smooth, sanded or ridged finish.
Zéphir® is now available in wavy and groove finishes
> It catches the light, creates shade and gives life to structure
> The fragmented effect produced by the joints in the shingles is thus unified and the facade grows in continuity and in volume.

H = Height; L = Length; Th. = Thickness * with use of the standard Zéphir® rail (nominal horizontal joint 5 mm, see Technical Approval) ** maximum strength with appropriate fi tting (see Technical Standard) > Seismic resistance capability: usable in zones Ia, Ib and II for buildings in class A, B, C and D. > Frost resistance: Zéphir® and reinforced Zéphir® products meet frost resistance NF EN 539-2 standard.
The cladding system based on single-skin terracotta components, including longitudinal bars on the back enabling them to be suspended on horizontal rails, supported on a vertical framework secured to the main structure and behind where insulation may be fitted.
There are two versions of the horizontal rail, for a narrow horizontal joint (5 mm, standard rail, or prominent (16 mm, rail XI) (for close terracotta tolerances).
There are various accessories not supplied by TERREAL (in italics in the diagrams): thermal insulation, mastic, fixing brackets, wooden or steel structural verticals, steel or PVC profiles for skirts and various finishes, various screws and fixing anchors.
Installation of Zéphir® must comply with that envisioned by CSTB Technical approval no. 2/08-1330. Positioned horizontally with an average theoretical spacing of 25 or 30 cm (recommended spacing indicated on the pallet, for fitting with a standard rail). The rails are fixed to a vertical framework leaving a 1 to 2 cm air gap between the ends of the rails on each row.
Installation on a concrete or rendered masonry substrate of the vertical structure made of wooden batten or steel profiles, must comply with the rules contained in CSTB specifications nos. 3316/3422/3585 (steel structure) – or nos. 3194/3586 (steel structure, flanged design), with a 2 cm minimum air gap. Fixing these profiles using brackets spaced between 30 and 90 cm apart, depending on the mechanical strength requirement, is generally staggered and spaced according to a technical study taking into account the mechanical strength and thermal requirements (strength of the anchors, wind, and
seismicity).
A steel structure based on “Z” profiles, fixed directly to the support wall may also be used.
Terracotta products are fitted from bottom to top, suspended on the upper rail by their upper bar and locked with two dots of mastic
(type Sikafl ex® Pro 11 FC) on the lower bar on the upper part of the lower rail.
The addition of intermediate rails in addition to the usual rails, may increase resistance to wind (up to classification V4) and to impacts (up to class Q3).
At critical points, Zéphir® may be easily cut vertically (12 cm minimum) or horizontally (using the intermediate hooking bars for fixing), using a diamond-tipped saw lubricated with water.

| Using a laser or spirit level, trace a horizontal line as a starting reference for fitting the profiles The starting point is determined according to the layout drawing. |
Mark the spacing chosen for the profiles. Then offer up the brackets to drill for fitting the anchors (spacing of brackets to be determined by calculation). |
Adjust to ensure the profiles are vertical. |
Place the brackets in a staggered pattern along the line of the profile. |

| Position and adjust the vertical of the profiles at the ends of the wall and fix the profiles to the brackets. |
Adjusting the vertical of the intermediate profiles is done last. |
Fix the rails to the profiles using the fitting spacing recommended on the pallet (in theory 250 to 300 mm with the standard rail). The use of a spacing is recommended. |
Position the Zéphirs® on the horizontal rails having put two dots of Sikaflex Pro 11 FC mastic in the throat of the lower bar. |
Zéphir® can be fitted on aluminum rails fixed to a framework of wooden battens. The wooden structure must comply with the rules issued in CSTB specification no. 3316 of February 2001 and modifications nos. 3422 and 3585 (wooden structure).
